Willy the Snitch

Willy was a human bartender who owned Willy’s Place, a demon bar in Sunnydale. Various Scoobies beat Willy up, threatened to beat him, or paid him money, to get information about new demons in town. Willy usually knew what was going on in town, but pretended not to.

Embarrasing admission (thank goodness for the anonimity of the internet…): I always well up when, in Amends, Willy says to Buffy, “Hey kid…Merry Christmas.” That actor had a pahtos in his face, like he (a) had really suffered in his day and (b) like he really understood what a rough gig being the Slayer was for Buffy. There was a genuineness in the way he delivered his Christmas well-wishes that really hit home.

    …um…pathos, not “pahtos”…

I really hated when he left, even though he was not a regular character, I missed him on season 5, where some other guy took over Willy’s Place.

yeah his absence was never explained..riley simply said..well willy’s not here!..if anyone saw my other comments..this is a good example of buffy forgetting itself by deleting old school as it grew up

Yes, I also thought that he had left brutally. All we needed was for his successor to mention that he’d gotten into trouble with some demons, it would have explained his disappearance quite conveniently.
Another thing that bothers me is that Willy simply appeared one day in What’s My Line? and everybody seemed to know him.
Now, I can understand that Angel knows the town’s underside. He wouldn’t be shocked that humans and demons can get along sometimes.
But 2nd season Buffy ? In a demon bar ? In her high school years, wouldn’t she have immediately gone to wreck the place ?
