In 7.05 Selfless, Buffy stands up to Xander when she thinks she must kill Anya. She says:
“I am the law”.
In 3.15 Consequences, she didn’t agree with Faith’s argument that, as Slayers:
“We don’t need the law - we are the law”.
It’s a symbol of Buffy’s changing attitude to her work.

Actually, I really hated Buffy’s declaration in Selfless, because it seemed to go against everything she had tried so prove during the whole series. The only way to justify her attitude is that while Faith was talking about the human law, Buffy was talking about the lack of written law when dealing with demons. And no matter how you look at it, she is just wrong in that episode.
