From the original script of 1.09 The Puppet Show this line was cut for length:
Buffy: “And I don’t think we’ll be featuring Xander’s special gift…”
Xander: “Okay, some people are jealous that they can’t burp the alphabet.”
Buffy: “…so we’re back to drama. We’ll just do it quickly. get in, get out. Nobody gets hurt.”

I’m quite disappointed that they couldn’t work this into later episodes. Or rather a reference to it, because I honestly don’t want to see Xander burping the alphabet.
