The following dialogue is from 3.19 Choices:
Buffy: “It’s gonna be fun. Will and I are going to go on Saturday to check out the campus. I’m hoping Mom will let me live there. It’s too far to come home every night.”
In 4.01 The Freshman, we learn that the college is five miles away:
Buffy: “Well I’ve been busy! It’s been a very slay-heavy summer. I just haven’t had a whole lot of time to think about life at UC Sunnydale.”
Willow: “It’s exciting, though, isn’t it?”
Buffy: “Yeah! It’s gonna be an adjustment.”
Willow: “Yeah, it’s like, five miles away. It’s uncharted territory.”
