Alyson Hannigan hated her singing voice and asked not to have a song, or any major singing lines, of her own in the musical episode 6.07 Once More, With Feeling. In 1.10 Nightmares, we saw that Willow herself is terrified of singing in public.

Even though I would have liked if Alyson had more singing lines, I always thought that it made a lot of sense that she didn’t, because of that scene of Nightmares.

I like how in the song “Walk through the fire” Willows only line is “I think this lines mostly filler”.

I’d just like to point out that tonight, she had a few singing lines on “How I Met Your Mother.” I really don’t think her voice is that bad!

The side effect of Alyson having no singing lines was that Willow didn’t expose any of her own secrets as everyone else did. I wonder what she would have sung about if she had?

Hey…I never really thought of that. Good point! Maybe it would have been about the whole memory-erasing spell she did on Tara?

Yeah, that sucks. I mean, at this point Willow must be having a huge internal conflict: Abusing magic even though she knows deep down it’s wrong. It would have been cool to hear her POV.

I think Willow’s lines (those few ones) in OMWF was briliantly funny:
“I think this line’s mostly filler” (NO COMMENT….:D)
And I liked the reference to the episode “Nightmares”:
“I’ve got a theory some kid is dreaming and we’re all stuck inside his wacky Broadway nightmare.”
And when Anya finish her rockin’ about bunnies, Willow and Giles has some lines together (and their expressions on their face is so funny when they sing this):
“I’ve got a theory we should work this fast, ‘Cause it clearly could get serious before it pass”
:)
Altough, her point of view would have been interesting about the whole memory-erasing stuff.

I think it makes more sense that we DON’T get to hear her POV because she is clearly busy denying in previous eps (like flooded and all the way) that she has a “problem” with wanting to control everything with magic. To be fair, I never put it together that her not singing=her not voicing her secrets, but kudos to whoever said it. Coincidence and yet it works thematically. PS. I was really mad at Ali when I heard her sing on How I Met Your Mother. They got her to do it, what was she too good to sing on Buffy? (I know I sound mean, but I felt that way).

In one of the extras on the Season 6 DVD set she says that if she’d known how much their voices could be edited then she would’ve sung more! They should’ve told her that first ;)

Well the thing is, I don’t think it would’ve made sense for Willow to sing in OMWF… we KNOW what her issues are and the fact that she doesn’t feel like she needs to get it off her chest shows how deeply in trouble she is.

I recently saw an interview of Alyson Hannigan in which she said :
