When 2.21 Becoming (Part One) was repeated on September 15, 1998, it was presented with a different first scene. There were several differences, but the most notable was that Max Perlich (Whistler) provides the voice-over for that scene, rather than David Boreanaz.

Max Perlich also does the voice over on the US DVD set. I never heard it with DB, but I think having an unknown character do it makes it, in some sense, more haunting.

I have the US DVD set and have never noticed that! I thought it was DB speaking. Guess I’m not the best observer… :-)

Its funny because I was watching the episode with the subtitles and it says that the voice over is OZ not Whistler!!

When I first saw it (in rerun), I had obviously never seen Maz Perlich, and I just assumed that it was Seth Green who was doing the talking, so it does make some sense here.
