In 4.12 A New Man, Willow lies to Buffy:
Buffy: “Hey, I didn’t hear you come in last night. Where were you?”
Willow: “The Chem Lab, by myself.”
This is the first sign that something is going on with her and Tara. The girls also do a highly charged spell on a rose together.
