Heading to L.A.

The Buffy episode 4.20 The Yoko Factor follows on from the Angel episode 1.19 Sanctuary, where Buffy turns up in L.A. to find Faith. She’s disgusted to find that Angel is helping her nemesis, despite what she did to Buffy. Angel and Buffy argue, and she leaves. He arrives in Sunnydale in 4.20 The Yoko Factor to apologise to Buffy. Xander calls Buffy “LA Woman”, referring to her visit to L.A.

I am SO GLAD to have this explained — I always thought I just kept missing an episode somehow! I’ve never seen “Angel” beyond the first season, as it jumped to UPN, which we can’t get here — I guess I need to rent it, you guys seem to think it’s as good as “Buffy,” so I’m obviously missing out!

Hmm I like them both, but differently. Angel is more serious and darker than Buffy, while Buffy has more humour

Angel was horrible. The first season wasn’t bad, but after that it just went down hill. Serious and darker my ass, it was cheeesy. The acting wasn’t horrible, but the writing was. I watch the repeats every now and then and I’m just embarrassed.

I don’t think the acting is bad. There was no one on that show which i thought was terrible at acting (apart from cordelia in the series) but i was really happy when the cop, Kate, did her last episode. She really annoyed me.

Angel is a little more believeable. I personally like BtVS better but Angel did a better job at making it more real. For instance: Whenever someone on Buffy left or died (Jenny for example), everyone seemed to get over it relativley quickly. In Angel, it seems more real because ssomeone would die (like Doyle) and people were still grieving 5 or 6 episodes later.

Plus he can’t sing - have you heard him sing “Mandy” ? Sheeesh.

Well, everyone who has watched Buffy and Angel here in Kuwait thought that Angel was WAY better than Buffy. I mean, i got SOOOOO bored in season 6, that i even forgot to see the episodes when they were broadcasted!!!
And u gotta admit Season 4 of Angel was incredible!!

  10. Buffy & Angel 4EVER on September 5th, 2005 at 1:46 pm

Angel is SUPOSED to have a bad voice in singing, he says that in an interview. And he sings in a bad voice to make us laugh!!! Dah…

  11. ant4buffy on September 6th, 2005 at 8:29 am

I know Angel is supposed to have a bad voice! My point was that he wouldn’t have been in the musical episode because he can’t sing. Jeez…

Ya, i’m sorry, i understand that now :)

o, I wish they did a musical episode of Angel… I would have loved to see all the Wolfram & Hart lawyers singing and someone like Gunn…or maybe Drusilla. But hey! Angel had puppets. BtVS never had puppets. Puppets good.

Let’s not forget Sid the Dummy now!

Buffy is better, no question. But “Angel” is a great show. I actually feel the exact opposite of Mair…. I think season 1 of “Angel” is the worst season of either show, but seasons 2-4 are all classics (especially 3 & 4). Season 5 has some great moments as well, but those of you who all love “Buffy” should watch “Angel”, at least so you can get the whole story. And it’s fun, too.

On the whole BtVS Vs. Angel
Angels target Audience was for people in their 20s and BtVS target Audience was mainly for teens so I guess it depends on how old you are… In my opinion BtVS was better than Angel because you had a wider diversity of characters and the humor was funnier on the other hand Angel still is a good show and it had more ratings than BtVS.

The never-ending discussion: Buffy or Angel? well, I like both shows, but still, though I’m in my 20s, I relate more easily to Buffy. I believe the plots in Buffy were more character-driven; the enemies usually had some sort of emotional connection with her: boyfriend turned evil, goddess in search of her sister, the first evil… Also the main cast seems sort of “weak” in the face of danger and their personal lives: Xander, Willow, Tara, Dawn… Well, I guess Cordelia, Fred and Lorne sort of fulfilles that role on Angel.

Angel’s plot seems reminicent of noir films, often dealing with mafia, secret societies, lawyers, etc… I personally find it hard to relate to that world, and frankly sometimes I got bored with the whole “bureaucratic” (cops and lawyers) stuff. If you look closely, you hardly get cops in Buffy. While Angel himself is an endearing character, with his constant quest of redemption, he kind of bores me sometimes with his permanent brooding… I can understand why the put Cordelia on that show, for me she’s the higlight of it all and the real heart of the series, she’s really needed to balance the seriousness and sometimes excessive mysticism of that show.

Uh, I might have sounded a bit harsh :( I do like Angel, I just preffer Buffy.

Abby M, i know what you’re saying but cordelia died and nobody mourned..the episode after..she wasn’t even mentioned..no funeral or anything…after everything she’d been through and being the only core character left besides angel!
i liked buffy in angel…season 1 of angel was really good..loved it. really did. season 2 was really good. season 3 was ok, season 4 was unusual and season 5 had its moments. someone also said that angel was cheesy whereas buffy wasn’t…uhm…look at everything buffy season 1-4..then look at season 5..especially ‘the gift’ and tell me those sets didn’t look cheap ass!! season 6 looked really bright and also kinda cheap..season 7 as ive said b4 had the right idea but didn’t know what to do with it…
