In the original script for 3.03 Faith, Hope And Trick, the ring that Scott gave Buffy wasn’t a Claddagh ring, but just a normal friendship ring. The scene had Buffy seeing a Claddagh ring and remembering Angel.
ANGLE - THE RING IN SCOTT’S HAND
It’s not the Claddagh ring but a simple frienship ring, colored plastic or something markedly different.
