The scene where Warren is skinned alive by Willow was edited out when shown in most places. Marti Noxon said of the scene:
“The skinning of Warren was something Joss wanted. We pitched it to the network, and the network said, ‘As long as you only see it for 2.5 seconds, go for it.’”

In a season seven episode,I’m not sure which one, D’Hoffryn talks to Willow about ‘the flaying of Warren Meers’ and how one of his friends or soemthing has a painting of it in his house or above his desk or something.

That’s when she summons him in ‘Selfless’:
“The flaying of Warren Meers? Oh, truly inspired. That was water cooler vengeance. Lloyd has a sketch of it on his wall.”
Really great line.

When I watch that scene, i could swear it was more like 5 seconds. One of the most amazing deaths in the Buffyverse, but by far the most deserved, IMO

Mullsen - dont you just love that line?

I don’t think that it lasted for five seconds or anything. It was extremely quick, although I haven’t watched it in a while. It is true, however, that it is one the most amazing deaths on the show.

I know! Its just so unexpected. I thought, “Ok, Willow’s going to hurt Warren, big deal.” And then all of the sudden, his skin flys off! I was so surprised and happy (The fact she killed somebody was going to be a great storyline for Willow and Warren just pissed me off).

Yes, there are a lot of aspects of this death:
1. it was disgusting and “horrifying”
2. it was great, I hated Warren
3. it was briliant to see Willow kills somebody and the storyline afterwards
4. it was the most deserved, the most terrific, the most bloody and the most surprisingly done death ever on the show.
I was like: “Geez, I can’t believe she did this!!!!! Hurray! I mean Yuck! I mean WOW!”
:D :D :D :D

HAHAH, “Lloyd has a sketch of it on his wall”
Faboulus, pure BTVS humour.

BTW, why only 2.5 seconds?
Was it to horrible to be shown longer time?
HarFang on May 11th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Well, it is icky, although rather bloodless. I guess it couldn’t have been shown at prime time if it had been too visible on screen.
That being said, it seemed longer than 2.5s to me ; there’s a whole shot of the flayed body sagging forward while the Scoobies stare in utter shock, and I thought I had a lot of time to examine the body (which of course is the only thing you can do at that moment; they could practically replace Willow by another actress and nobody would notice).
