In a feature appeareance in “Andromeda”, James Marsters, playing Charlemagne Bolivar, said when asked what it was that he wanted: “The usual. Hundreds of grandchildren, domination of the known worlds and for all of my enemies to die in horrible accidents that can’t be traced back to me.” I was giggling mad when I heard that :D it sounds really Spike-ish and the grandchildren reference registered with me.

I don’t know if it was my own mind playing tricks on me, but when Buffy says that in Chosen, doesn’t Angel get a look, like a guilty expression……..did he remember that The First/Jenny said that and he felt guilty?………not likely………its probably just me……

  3. Longlostscooby on December 21st, 2005 at 11:36 pm

I think Angel gets a funny look because Buffy is talking about the fact that vampires can’t have children. But Angel did. True it was an unprecidented event, and not likely to happen again. But you never know in the Buffyverse. Angel and Buffy could have a child someday… Possibly…. Probably not.

The last time I saw Angel he was facing, ahem, certain death. Or death squared, or somethin like that…

Oh, sorry, really didn’t do this double post on purpose:

Longlostscooby: I agree, I rewatched this episode last night (at my aunts who owns every season of Buffy and Angel, can I get an amen?). He is just thinking of Buffy and their lack of future children. Does he know you can adopt?

  12. mairceridwen on December 22nd, 2005 at 4:59 pm

Yeah, but can HE adopt? Although it wouldnt’ surprise me. Vampires, sure…take some kids…as long as your not GAY

  13. slightlyembarrased on December 22nd, 2005 at 5:33 pm

    “Vampires, sure

I know that I would reather see vamps with adopted kids than Rosie O’Donnell - she is a real monster. And don’t they realize fat grandchildren grow up to be fat children and fat adults. Heart disease any one?!

  15. Boyslayer on March 27th, 2008 at 2:51 pm

actually angel and buffy could have a child now because he’s human in angel: after the fall…the big battle at the end of the series made him human and gave him a pet dragon! i think it would be very easy also for buffy to have fat kids or grandchildren because she seamed to stop eating around season 4

  16. HarFang on April 15th, 2008 at 1:36 am

Oh, no, please don’t give Angel any more children ! And I can’t even begin to imagine what Spike’s children would be like…

  17. mymostbeautiful on April 21st, 2008 at 1:30 am

… seems to be a theme with Joss. In the Firefly episode Our Mrs Reynolds, Inara says “Yes. Great. I wish you hundreds of fat children.”

  18. HarFang on April 22nd, 2008 at 4:29 pm

I think that the reference to “fat grandchildren” is a convenient combination of everything that someone can wish :
    - to live long (= have grandchildren)
    - to be wealthy and healthy (fat)
    - to have a lovely family life (lots of grandchildren)
