Dusting vampires

1100.jpg

When vampires are killed (via wooden stakes, sunlight or beheading), they turn to dust. The Scoobies use the word as a verb to describe killing a vampire (i.e. “We dusted him”). The first person to use the word in this way on the show was Buffy in 1.02 The Harvest, “So, I dust anyone sporting that symbol, and no Harvest”.
‘Dusting’ a vampire using computer graphics cost $5,000 per vampire.

I never thought it would be trhat much either! I just thought it’d be a computer graphic that would cost…well…nothing. I though if you had the technology, then you could just do it all anyway.

Becuase that have to have a special fx team do it, that don’t justhave some bum laying around to do it, and Joss didn’t do it. Thats the fee that the fx team charges per effect for that peticuler effect. MOre complicated ones, and the ones used later on and in Angel probably cost a little bit more.
