The first appearance of Darla (Julie Benz) on Angel was in 1.15 The Prodigal, in a flashback to when Darla first saw Angel. She was staked by Angel in the Buffy episode 1.07 Angel three seasons earlier, and seen briefly in a flashback to Angel’s siring in 2.21 Becoming (Part One).
