Comments on trivia Titanic (1 comments)
- 30.06.08 4:11 am | Meghann: Not a reference to the flick, but figured it could be combined… Gunn: “Got a phone message. Sounded like the captain of the Titanic getting ready to go down with the ship.” (Over the Rainbow)
- 30.06.08 4:07 am | Meghann: Another reference to Wheel of Fortune is in Belonging. It’s after Cordy is trying to read from the book that opened the portal within the library… Cordy: “Yeah, Pat, I’d like to buy a vowel.” (The transcripts on what she reads didn’t seem confident on it’s accuracy. Therefore, I ommitted it.
- 26.06.08 12:57 am | ormaybemidgets: OMG! He’s that freak from those commercials! So many nightmares make such a small bit more sense now.
- 24.06.08 8:25 pm | Meghann: The shorts played during the late 70’s. He was made of clay. Silly stuff! Here’s a link to his picture. He may look familiar: http://img120.imageshack.us/im g120/5822/mrbillyr3.jpg
- 24.06.08 5:36 pm | ormaybemidgets: In which…? I was never a big SNL-er. :(
- 25.06.08 12:15 pm | HarFang: I also like Jonathan very much. He’s a lot like Xander, but without even the jokes and the friends. How horrible is it to re-watch Earshot, and even Superstar to some extent, when you now what’s to come ? Oh and about coming back even after his death, he commented on this once by saying “Only on Buffy can you get killed and do three more episodes.”
- 25.06.08 7:59 am | Talmah: Yeh but in 7.20 Touched, Spike tries to smell Buffy and he finds her to spend the best night of his life.
- 24.06.08 7:52 am | Talmah: I just wanna say that I’m curious about what it looks like if the two were together. But I’m a really really Spuffy fan. And if they were together in the whedonverse I would be a littre sad for the Spuffy thing. You kown that’s just curiosity.
- 23.06.08 9:54 pm | HarFang: Over my dead body ! Although I have to admit that their scene in the basement was quite interesting… but nope. They wouldn’t bring out the best things in each other, I guess. And as a Spuffy supporter, the mere idea makes me want to hit Faith. (Partial, me?)
- 23.06.08 8:20 pm | Talmah: Faith and Spike … could have been interesting …
- 24.06.08 7:46 am | Talmah: Oups ! Buffy the Slayer Vampire , hum … funny thing Joss could think about it . lol
- 23.06.08 9:48 pm | HarFang: Lol, Talmah, you accidentally changed the name of the series to Buffy the Slayer Vampire. Quite another scenario !
- 23.06.08 8:44 pm | Talmah: I just love that kinda things in the Buffyvers. BTSV rocks !
- 23.06.08 9:45 pm | HarFang: Yet another puzzling decision. It’s not like Glitter didn’t come out in France after all. I guess the translator was afraid that people wouldn’t get Faith’s comment that “it couldn’t have been worse”, so he decided to make her point VERY obvious… And besides, “Gone with the Wind” is much longer to say than “Glitter” (especially in French), so part of the dialogue must have been deleted to make...
- 23.06.08 8:27 pm | Talmah: In the French version this reference is replaced by the movie ‘Gone with the Wind’ . Hum bad French version damnit ! Poor French people that we are …
- 23.06.08 9:44 pm | Meghann: I’m sure if Willow knew, Buffy did. I can’t see Will keeping that from her. If Angel had told Buffy about Connor in Chosen, she would not have remembered since the spell had already been cast in Home. He probably would have been confiding in her since they were so close and knew she could keep it under wraps.
- 23.06.08 9:36 pm | HarFang: I guess Fred must have told Willow when she called her. It would have been logical to give her as much information as possible in an emergency. Besides, we know that Cordy has been keeping in touch with Willow over the years (if only to solve her computer problems). The reason Willow didn’t tell Buffy about Connor when she got back is another matter, but I guess it wouldn’t have been very delicate, and by then she had other things on her mind.
- 23.06.08 4:20 am | ormaybemidgets: Hey, you’re right! How did Willow know about Connor, especially if Buffy didn’t?
- 22.06.08 11:52 pm | Danielle629: It really wasn’t the best time for Angel to bring Connor up considering he just wiped Connor out of the memories of everyone around him….therefore if Buffy had been told by Willow about Connor it really wouldn’t have mattered since Cyvus Vail worked that mind mojo like the monks did with Dawn. It also sounded like Buffy and the others in Sunnydale did know about Connor in Orpheus….When Willow is going around doing intros with everyone...
- 22.06.08 10:35 am | Talmah: Spike in the 70’s is so so cool ! I just love his look an his attitude . God James Marsters is so good at that !
- 22.06.08 10:13 am | Talmah: At the Buffy’s party in ‘Older and far away’ isn’t there the same kinda song ?
- 22.06.08 12:57 am | ormaybemidgets: Eek! My links are now faulty. Sorry kids! It seems like screencap-paradise isn’t allowing linking anymore.
- 21.06.08 9:49 am | Talmah: Maybe her hands was clean after she washes them then she just touched her bloody dress and get blood on her hand.
- 21.06.08 9:01 am | Talmah: Wynter, for the couple Willow/Kennedy, if you read the BTVS comicbooks you will know that the two are no longer together.
- 20.06.08 8:04 pm | Meghann: I was watching Blood Ties last night and it made me think of my post. I figured I’d just post a comment and not ammend the trivia. *LMAO* Anya: We were talking about sex. I mean, you know us, sometimes we like to pretend stuff- Joyce: Um… Xander: Anya! Anya: You know, like, say there’s a fireman, or a shepherd-
- 19.06.08 10:53 pm | HarFang: Another small thing : it just occurred to me that Angel has a first-hand experience of the punishment he inflicts to Pavayne. (He was himself locked in a box by Connor in Deep Down)
- 31.05.08 10:23 pm | Meghann: Great moment: ANGEL: “God, I’ve missed watching this.”
- 31.05.08 5:24 pm | HarFang: Oh, how I loved that tiny bit of exchange in The Girl in Question ! Even though it’s rather silly (like the rest of this great episode), it is also very touching. I mean, look at them, those two tough guys. Together they’ve pretty much destroyed and saved the world a half-dozen times, and still, they’re in absolute awe of a tiny slip of a blonde girl they could probably lift with one hand. Particularly Angel ; I love how proud he is of her...
- 19.06.08 11:35 am | Talmah: I think , no I am pretty sure that it is “WELCOME BACK WILLOW”.
- 19.06.08 2:25 am | ormaybemidgets: We’ve been over this a bajillion times, but I’ll try it again. No slayer was called after Buffy’s season five death because the slayer line did not run through her anymore. It was in Buffy, she died in season one, it passed to Kendra; Kendra died in season two, it passed to Faith. Then Buffy dies in season five and it didn’t matter at all, as far as calling new slayers. She just didn’t have that power anymore. (PS: no meanness...
- 18.06.08 7:15 pm | Talmah: Spuffy Freak , I rather go for your third theory , even if Whedon say something else in interview .
- 18.06.08 3:59 pm | sarah_jean: Technically these kinds of mistakes aren’t really goofs. I work as an extra, and the PA’s just tell you where to go. I once worked on a show where I had a different path for every angle of the same scene, and I mentioned that it was a bit sloppy but the PA said, “No one will notice.” They don’t really care about the continuity of the extra, just making the scene look ‘real’.
- 17.06.08 1:28 am | Meghann: Deborah Zoe played Mistress Meerna in A New World. She appeared in the Bones episode The Soccer Mom in the Mini-Van as Special Agent Katherine Frost.
- 13.06.08 12:21 pm | insaneinthebasement: Cordy also called Dr Meltzer “Dr Chopped Salad” in I Fall To Pieces
- 07.06.08 11:35 am | HarFang: The last 10 mn are hilarious actually (when the Scoobies actually start doing something) but it’s true that having Dawn THEN Buffy swoon over RJ was rather painful. I guess that story wouldn’t have seemed so out of place in season 1 though.
- 07.06.08 7:46 am | Jet: As kinda, eh, as this ep. is, it’s still hilarious.
- 06.06.08 12:51 am | mymostbeautiful: T.J. also appeared in the Friends episode “The One Hundredth” playing a doctor, along with Sam Anderson (Wolfram & Hart lawyer Holland Manners in Angel) as another doctor.
- 06.06.08 12:41 am | HarFang: Well, once again this quotation is not really about Angel himself, but… in the Price, Cordy repeatedly calls Groo “a puppy” while apologizing for how bad it sounds. She might as well, since by then everybody realises that he’s more her pet than her lover. Btw, should we start a “characters’ animal selves” thread, rather than cram this one with details about characters other than Angel ?
- 03.06.08 6:08 pm | Meghann: I’m watching a marathon of Kindred: The Embraced. Jack was just on it. Another Alumn to add to the list. hehe!
- 31.05.08 4:21 am | Meghann: I caught it On Demand. I remembered liking it when it aired on TV a while back. Poor Six from Blossom! *LOL*
- 30.05.08 7:48 pm | blutortu: I’ve seen this Lifetime staple more times than I care to admit. Some of Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s best work.
- 30.05.08 8:48 pm | blutortu: I’m quite disappointed that they couldn’t work this into later episodes. Or rather a reference to it, because I honestly don’t want to see Xander burping the alphabet.
- 30.05.08 8:41 pm | blutortu: Technically, this was a “pilot presentation” (a shortened version of a proposed pilot) to give the network an idea of the look and sound of the show without having to produce a full-length and expensive pilot. It’s pretty standard in Hollywood. Some notable differences (aside from the Riff Regan/Alyson Hannigan thing): vampire “dusting” effect was much slower and less shocking, Jonathan (!) appears in line at the Bronze=so awesome,...
- 30.05.08 8:17 pm | blutortu: Similar sentiments are phrased differently on both programs in many episodes. Buffy and Angel talk about helping the new murderess Faith in 3.15 Consequences, at one point Angel saying that killing a human being “changes everything.” In 6.20 Villains, Willow plots Warren’s death, despite Buffy’s warning: “Willow, if you do this, you let Warren destroy you too.” Earlier that season, Buffy has been tricked by The Trio into...
- 30.05.08 5:04 pm | HarFang: Here’s her commentary about that scene, it’s from an online interview you can find here : SMG interview I told the producer, ‘Look, I can’t do it, I’m sorry.’ Through mis-communication, the message never got relayed and it was four in the morning and they basically made me do it. I was hysterical. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done for my job, ever. Some people find cemeteries a turn-on. Not me. I cried the...
- 30.05.08 3:56 pm | insaneinthebasement: lol, it still gave me the giggles for a couple of mintutes there :-)
- 30.05.08 2:35 pm | HarFang: Actually, there was death, there was Glory… and there was sod above her grave, right ? (Ouch, that’s a lame one but I can’t help it).
- 30.05.08 2:55 pm | Jess: Hi Harfang, I used to have those as categories but it just got ridiculously long and complicated so I changed them to tags. Don’t worry about adding those in though, I can do those for you when i approve trivia.
- 30.05.08 2:32 pm | HarFang: Great ! Thank you ! One little thing though : when we fill in the “suggest trivia” form, we can select which episodes / series our trivia is related to. Wouldn’t it be possible to add the main categories to the list (”characters”, “deleted scenes”, “goofs”, &c), instead of having to add them in the “tags” part of the form ?
- 30.05.08 9:48 am | Jess: Thanks, I’ve updated it.
- 29.05.08 10:31 pm | HarFang: I hate to be the one who always mentions this, but that link is dead, Jess.
- 30.05.08 12:50 pm | Jess: or “No”?
- 21.05.08 7:35 pm | HarFang: What would they have done if the ball had said “ASK AGAIN LATER” ? :D
- 30.05.08 12:49 pm | Jess: yes
- 24.05.08 11:46 am | AngelusNdDarlaForeva: Is He Still Married Too Alyson Now?
- 25.05.08 10:42 pm | insaneinthebasement: English has spelling rules? Just kidding. Anyway I agree that they don’t pronounce it to rhyme with ‘odd’, but I think it probably depends on what accent you’re listening with. To me, it sounds like they’re saying ‘awed’, rhyming with board and lord and gored. But I can’t speak for non-Australians.
- 25.05.08 10:05 pm | Swede: Aud does not rhyme with odd. closest way to describe it for an english-speaker would be ow-d. Os as in “ow, my balls”. Which btw, is also a correct pronounciation, based on english spelling rules, for Aud.
- 25.05.08 10:07 pm | Swede: Like I said in the other trivia, it does not even rhyme with odd. Odd is in fact a real Scandinavian name, but a male one (and pronounciation of that one is pretty close, depending on dialect, to the word “odd”). Sjornjost is btw completely fictional, just so there’s no doubt.
- 25.05.08 9:07 pm | insaneinthebasement: I think it was a prediction, because first he says “From beneath you it devours”, meaning she will die in the battle against the First.
- 24.05.08 7:32 pm | insaneinthebasement: Yay! Ditto what Kev said, I love Cannibal! One of the funniest movies ever!
- 24.05.08 3:09 pm | insaneinthebasement: He was also in Innocence, but was only credited as “teacher”. It was the same actor though, James Lurie.
- 24.05.08 12:41 am | HarFang: I just love that box of chocolate and all the scenes it’s in. Spike rehearsing his apology and failing miserably is just hilarious, and what’s to say about “I’m badder than you are!” “Are NOT!” ? By the way, it’s a pity we don’t know what happens to the chocolates later on. Spike and Dawn could have eaten it together to prove how bad they both were :D Although they might be less appetizing after all...
- 22.05.08 10:25 pm | insaneinthebasement: I think the chocolates were in Triangle too.
- 22.05.08 5:59 pm | insaneinthebasement: It’s also in Graduation Day Part 1, and prompts Willow to say: “Old trusty soda machine. I push you for root beer, you give me coke.”
- 22.05.08 4:50 pm | insaneinthebasement: You mean all the sweating-nightly, side-by-side action?! ;-) Agreed!
- 22.05.08 4:42 pm | HarFang: Wow, you do have a point ! I had notice the teasing (although I thought they sounded more like siblings than lovers) but you’re right about Xander’s comment. As for “slay”… By the end of season 4, Buffy clearly seems to have adopted Faith’s attitude towards slaying.
- 22.05.08 4:00 pm | insaneinthebasement: Oh this is definately a foreshadowing of their future relationship! At the start of the episode, Buffy is talking about how much she likes Riley, but that there’s “something missing”. She says: “Riley seems so solid…but…part of me believes that real love and passion have to go hand in hand with pain and fighting.” And we all know that one season on, Spike will be doing his best to convince Buffy he is a much...
- 22.05.08 4:32 pm | HarFang: It would probably have led to a lot of complications, and comedic episodes based on “temporary insanity” like Something Blue is shouldn’t have too many consequences, or the characters would spend so much time discussing them that the main storyline would dissolve. As a matter of fact, I think it’s a good thing that everybody seems to have forgotten the Buffy/Spike episode. It makes their later relationship all the more unexpected –and...
- 22.05.08 2:15 pm | insaneinthebasement: I always thought it would have been funny if Riley had remembered Buffy saying she was marrying a guy called Spike after he found out who Spike was. Oh well…
- 22.05.08 4:25 pm | HarFang: Oh no, please don’t let them. I know that the darker tone is what made Angel different from Buffy, but… hey, there’s only so much a vampire can take. Angel has lost the love(s) of his life, he has been through tell (literally), he has given up the son he loved so much, he is partly responsible for the deaths of many friends and he has signed away his hope of salvation … At that stage, most people, living or undead, would be catatonic. And...
- 22.05.08 7:44 am | ormaybemidgets: I agree. When the Buffy comics came out, I thought, “this is okay. As long as they don’t do Angel.” And then here we are. Angel had the perfect ending, and it suited the show so well. I think it’s wrong to continue it, when the message was that what happens next doesn’t matter, it’s what’s happening now that counts. Also, to keep with the theme of the show, they’re just going to have to end the comics on a...
- 22.05.08 6:26 am | insaneinthebasement: I’ve heard that too, and that the dragon is in After the Fall, although I haven’t read any of Angel Season Six yet. I thought the cliffhanger as the season finale was a great way to end, until I heard they brought out the comics. It left you wondering which ensouled vampire would become human, and I think people were a bit divided in their loyalties to Angel and Spike (personally I prefer Spike, but I can see it would be a bit unfair for him...
- 22.05.08 4:18 pm | HarFang: Oh, you meant Larry. Sorry, once more I rushed to conclusions :)
- 22.05.08 3:48 am | insaneinthebasement: Yeah but I mean Larry must have been a junior, since he graduated with Buffy &co. Or at least he would have if he hadn’t been killed. I love that line from phases as well. Oz gets called Stoic a few times in the series, and he really is. Like in Phases when he wakes up in the woods completely naked and just says “Huh.” I love that line.
- 21.05.08 7:28 pm | HarFang: No, Oz is a senior ; he ought to have left high school at the end of season 2, but… Willow: You came with books? Are they books for me? Oz: Well, actually, they’re kind of for me. Willow: I don’t get it. Oz: Well, it’s sort of a funny story. You remember when I didn’t graduate? Willow: Well, I know you had a lot of incompletes, but that’s what summer school was for. Oz: Yeah. Well, you remember when I didn’t go? (From Anne)...
- 21.05.08 2:56 pm | insaneinthebasement: It’s strange that Larry teases Oz about dating a junior in Phases, when he must be a junior too.
- 21.05.08 7:19 pm | HarFang: If there’s one passage into the sewer system, there might be another one in the mausoleum, leading somewhere else (why not to a place near Angel’s flat –I’m not sure it’s a real flat, as he certainly doesn’t pay rent, but it certainly looks like one.) By the way, does anyone know what the viewers thought or expected the first time Buffy aired ? Was it a huge surprise to discover Angel’s true nature or did some people expect...
- 21.05.08 1:04 pm | insaneinthebasement: I can believe that Angel would have been lurking in the shadows waiting for Buffy to turn up. It’s true he does enjoy a good lurk. But he would have had to stay there until the sun set again, so how come Xander doesn’t see him when he follows Buffy into the sewers?
- 21.05.08 4:50 pm | insaneinthebasement: Maybe he’s ‘undead’.
- 21.05.08 2:53 pm | Bells: Séan acually translates into John in Irish, so it’s really John John!!
- 21.05.08 2:36 pm | Bells: LMAO “gimp” I love that word :)
- 20.05.08 3:42 pm | HarFang: Oh yeees, that was a great line ! Angel tries so hard to be cool and mysterious, and here comes Lorne with his silly (and not very manly) pet names… Especially as poor Angel can’t even enjoy pastries ! (I loved his reaction to food when he became human again in I’ll Remember You !)
- 20.05.08 11:58 am | Bells: I love in the episode “Waiting in the wings” when Lorne is talking about Angel & Cordy getting together, & calls him cinnamon buns when Angel replys he also adds to the end….”And stop calling me pastries”
- 20.05.08 3:29 pm | Bells: I think he is also smoking in Soul Purpose in Angels dream
- 20.05.08 11:46 am | Bells: In the episode “When She Was Bad” Cordelia: Oh, look, it’s the Three Musketeers. Buffy: (to Xander) Was that an insult? Xander: Kinda lacked punch. Willow: The Three Musketeers were cool. Cordelia: I see your point. Xander: I woulda gone with Stooges.
- 20.05.08 5:47 am | ormaybemidgets: Thanks Jess!
- 19.05.08 4:57 pm | HarFang: Thank you Jess !
- 19.05.08 9:41 am | Jess: No I don’t! I’ve just corrected the link so it should work for you now.
- 19.05.08 11:11 pm | HarFang: I really can’t remember, sorry ; it was on TV and I was not really paying attention, right until the moment I had that very odd déjà-vu ; but I clearly recognized the view of the exit with the stairs and the sarcophagus in the middle (the one that Spike uses as a bed/table/hideout).
- 19.05.08 7:05 pm | insaneinthebasement: Did it have those two huge urns in the entranceway that are in just about every single crypt in Sunnydale?
- 19.05.08 6:45 pm | HarFang: Just a thought : I just watched an episode of Charmed, called Sleuthing with the Enemy. Is it a very odd coincidence, or did they use the Sunnydale cemetery to shoot their own scenes ? There’s a very familiar-looking angel statue in that graveyard, and when the characters entered the crypt, I fully expected to see Spike there !
- 19.05.08 5:04 pm | HarFang: Hem, from the amount of people now living in it, I think the Summers’ house in season 7 has become public accommodation ! Insaneinthebasement, I’m going to spend the next hours thinking about your puzzle, now ! The thing is, vampires don’t need to be invited into each other’s homes… and I doubt the case ever occurred before Spike (even Angel lived on his own in Sunnydale.) Now, maybe Spike could invite people into the basement ! :D
- 19.05.08 2:43 pm | insaneinthebasement: I think the potentials would have been able to invite in a vampire, a trickier question, is would Spike have been able to?
- 18.05.08 11:56 pm | Meghann: I’ve been curious is the Potentials could have invited a Vamp in when they were staying at Buffy’s. Because in The Girl In Question, Andrew is staying with Buffy and Dawn and can invite Angel & Spike: ANDREW: Buffy and Dawn are letting me crash. My casa was incinerated when that thing happened. SPIKE: What thing? ANDREW: Cultural misunderstanding. Let us speak of more pleasant times. Entrate pure. I part my threshold.
- 18.05.08 11:51 pm | Meghann: I’ve always found it interesting how Angel needed an invite in Warzone. Gunn & everyone was squaking in the building and it stil required an invitation. Angel: “Ask me in.” Later…. Gunn: “Get everybody outside - into the daylight. Do it.” Guy: “They are coming in? Don’t they have to be invited?”
- 19.05.08 4:57 pm | nithyaprasad: Hi Are there any video games on these movies where can use strategy to play the game? ------------------------ Nithya I challenge you to a game of trivia! - 19.05.08 3:06 pm | insaneinthebasement: He was too busy looking at their Boba Fett figurines.
- 19.05.08 2:17 pm | insaneinthebasement: Also agreed, weregoingtowin, pretty much exactly what I would have said.
- 19.05.08 12:04 am | HarFang: Just wanted to say a word about the great choice of song for that episode. I mean, Pavlov’s bell… right at the moment when Spike and Buffy realise that he is being triggered into eating people (Pavlov researched stimuli and managed to train a dog so that it became hungry simply by hearing a bell ring ; could there be a better simile ?) Now, the songs we hear in Buffy episodes always reflect the Scoobies’ state of mind, but they usually deal with...
- 18.05.08 11:59 pm | Meghann: Soul Purpose also has the Blue Fairy changing Spike. :o)
