Coma Again

Coma Again

In the Angel season four episode 4.15 Orpheus, Willow visits LA after getting a call from Fred so that she can re-ensoul Angel. She visits Cordelia and they have the following conversation:

Willow: “How have you been?”
Cordelia: ” Higher power. You?”
Willow: “Ultimate evil. But I got better.”
Cordelia: “You heard about Faith?”
Willow: “Coma again.”

This is a reference to both Dark Willow from season six of Buffy, and Faith’s coma after fighting Buffy in 3.22 Graduation Day (Part Two).

I haven’t seen the scene, but it reminds me of Smashed, when Buffy asks Amy how she’s been, to which Amy replies “Rat, you?”, and Buffy says “Dead”.

It just hit me how Monty Python-esque Willow’s line is.

There’s a scene in The Holy Grail when a woman is being accused of being a witch, and John Cleese’s character says: “She turned me into a newt!” *silence* “I got better.”

Does anyone else think so? I just thought that was worth mentioning!

I agree, the first time I heard it I’m all “MONTY PYTHON!”

Spike says something like this…”I was evil, I got better. Doesn’t seem to matter much how you start out…” to Dawn near the end of season 5 when she is talking about being the key and she’s wondering if she (the key) is/was meant for evil.

    “Orpheus”

    CORDELIA: A coma?
    CONNOR: Yeah, that
