When casting the role of Tara, Joss Whedon was originally looking for someone like ‘old Willow’ - before Willow became as confident as she is now. Visually he wanted someone who was small and thin. Amber Benson read for the role and it was Marti Noxon who saw her vulnerability beyond her body shape and convinced Joss to get Amber back to read again.

Amber is a great actress…
and the way she played tara, it just made me happy everytime I saw her in the show. Tara is a warm and kind character. I’m glad that they chose her.

From the first time Amber Benson showed up, I was also very happy everytime I saw her in an episode. She was awesome on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I wish we can see her on another television show in the future.

Tara was one of my favourite characters. She was so nice and her story with Willow was very romantic. I’ll miss her and I think nobody will be able to replace her!

Amber Benson is so great. I sure do hope that she can become a big star in the future. She certainly deserves to be one.
