It was rumoured that the entire town of Sunnydale would be sucked into the Hellmouth in the episode 5.22 The Gift. This actually occurred in the show’s final episode, 7.22 Chosen. Marti Noxon revealed in an interview with the BBC that:
“Originally Joss’s plan was that at the end of season five, Sunnydale was going to get sucked into the Hellmouth and that was going to be the end of it.”

I actually would of prefered “The Gift” as a Buffy ender rather than “Chosen”. It had a really nice and meaningful ending.

i dont get it…
anya was gonna be killed off in the gift too..but emma caulfield refused to die and so she kept moving when they were filming…that’s why xander proposed..to make it sad when she died..
im glad it didnt end there..it was too soon..although i didn’t like the idea of willow going evil..the sets looked really batman 1989..cheap…and the potentials should never have existed!!
