Kate Lockley’s final appearance on Angel is in the episode 2.16 Epiphany. She is saved by Angel after taking an overdose:
Kate: “Well, I’m pretty much convinced, since I’m alive to be convinced.”
Angel: “You know you don’t have to be a cop to be…”
Kate: “I’m okay. - Anyway, I’m *not* headed towards another pillathon. - I’m very grateful. - I never thought you’d come for me, but… I got cut a huge break and I believe… - I don’t know what I believe, but I - have - faith. - I think maybe we’re not alone in this.”
Angel: “Why?”
Kate: “Because I never invited you in.”
We never find out what happened to Kate after this episode.

I love that scene. I think it’s great that the scriptwriters took what might have been a huge plot hole and, instead of trying to patch it up or hide it, actually emphacised it and gave it meaning –while wisely keeping it brief.
It is a pity that Kate had to go right when we were willing to like her again: she could have been such an asset to later seasons, particularly in season 5!
But at least, the episode gave her a decent sendoff.
It would just have been nice to give her a guest spot later, or to show that Angel was still in touch (through a phone conversation, anything).
