In his crazed state during 7.03 Same Time, Same Place, Spike says, “Button, button, who’s got the button?” This is a children’s game where a button is hidden and must be found. The line was also used by Wonka in the 1971 film version of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

I read a short story once where they drugged a can of soda and everyone drank one, saying “Button, button, who’s got the button”. The one who drank the drugged can of soda, obviosly, had the button.

I was surprised a while back when I heard this phrase uttered (by my dad, I think) since I had no idea that it came from anywhere other than the show. It’s obviously not important, but I figuered I’d mention it here.
