Buster Keaton (1895-1966), referenced by Scott Hope in the episode 3.03 Faith, Hope And Trick, was one of the biggest names in comedy during the silent film era. He wrote, directed, and starred in many films in the 1920’s including The General, Steamboat Bill Jr. and The Cameraman. Keaton’s work didn’t transfer well when the new “talkies” came out and he took to writing instead.
