Buffy struggled with French in school - in 2.03 School Hard, she and Willow study together:
Buffy: “La vache… doit me… touche… de la… jeudi. Was it wrong? Should I use the plural?”
Willow: “No. But you said, ‘The cow should touch me from Thursday.’”
In 5.05 No Place Like Home, Buffy translates the French phrase “Tirer la Couture” (”Draw back the curtain”) as “Rotate many foodstuffs”.

I think you mean “tirer la couverture.” Couture is clothing. :-)

Buffy is not the only one struggling with French !
In her dream at the beginning of Surprise, Willow says something in French. I am French… and even with the script, I still cannot understand one word ! No offense intended, but did Alyson Hannigan ever practice that sentence before shooting the episode ?!
In Restless, in Xander’s dream, Giles and Anya start talking in French right at the wrong moment. They actually do it quite well, except that their lines clearly weren’t checked by French people, as they are all slightly inexact. Maybe I’m being picky here, but is it so hard to have three lines checked by a native speaker ?!
