Spike’s look from his very first episode (season two’s 2.03 School Hard) until 4.09 Something Blue in season four was a red shirt over his black t-shirt (and under his trademark black coat). For some reason, after 4.09 Something Blue he only wore a red shirt again one time - in Once More with Feeling.

Yeah, when me and my aunt were watching OMWF, we noticed that too. We think it’s because it’s the episode where Buffy finally starts her romance with Spike, but the writer(s) still wanted everyone to remember this is the same souless thing way back from School Hard. Tie the old in with the new.

I wanted to mention that, although what I wrote is true (as Spike doesn’t wear the red shirt again after “Something Blue”), he is seen wearing it in “Fool for Love” in Season Five. However, in that episode, he is only seen wearing it in a flashback to 1998. Since it’s a flashback, I don’t think that it really counts since, on the show, it has already happened (although it is cool to see the red shirt in that scene.) I just wanted to mention this, since I was the one who suggested this piece of trivia.
