In 5.07 Fool For Love, Spike says the night he killed his first Slayer was the best night of his life. In 7.21 End Of Days he tells Buffy that the night they spent together was the best in his life - a bit of a change from killing a Slayer!

Spike was always more of a lover than a fighter.

For him, that’s pretty much the same (see Fool for Love, and Buffy’s comment in Crush that for Spike, being hit is third base). So it’s even more ironical that by season 6 Buffy starts doing the same (see the misunderstanding concerning Spike’s suggestion of a “rough and tumble” in All the Way, or later when he phones her in Smashed).
And actually Spike had already had a better night than the one he referred to in Fool for Love. Right after their first night together (at the beginning of Wrecked) he commented that “I knew it : the only thing better than killing a Slayer would be f…”
Which nicely brings us back to marvin21st’s comment, I think !
