Angel drinks with a soul

Angel drinks with a soul

There have been a few occasions where Angel has fed from a human while he has had a soul:

In the Buffy episode 1.07 Angel, Angel tells Buffy that he hasn’t fed off a human since he was cursed:

“You have no idea what it’s like to have done the things I’ve done… and to care. I haven’t fed on a living human being since that day.”

Yeah, right.

In “Not Fade Away”, Angel drinks from Hamilton. But I’m not 100% sure what he was. Was he human with the power given to him from Wolfram & Hart or something else? My confusion has resulted in this comment and not adding it in the trivia! :o)

Also, Jess, I don’t know if Connor will count since we later find out he’s not human the sanctuary spell prevents him from fighting Angelus.

You’re help’s required! he he! Thank you!

I only recall Angelus drinking from Faith, BB.

Ah! I read that wrong, sorry hun!

I don’t think it counts as he didn’t physically drink from Connor.

I’m so curious about the blood packets seen in Angel’s fridge. Where they human? And in ‘Are You Now or Have You Ever Been’, the blood he drinks is human.

In the Buffy episode The Prom we see Angel buying blood from a butchers so I have always assumed that is what he would have done in LA too.

In season 5 we know that Wolfram & Hart have a steady supply of various animal blood - Harmony mentions in the first episode of season 5 that she has given Angel pig’s blood with the added ingredient of Otter.

I know. My curiosity stems from the blood packets. I’ve never seen animal blood like that. But I’m sure Vets have to have it in packets if the need to infuse animals, right?

He gets a taste of human Darla in ‘Dear Boy’. He scrapes up her chest and towards her neck with his teeth.

Vets do provide blood transfusion and there are animal blood banks (although some emergency clinics also have resident animal doners). Blood is also used in various recipes, so packaged animal blood is not that unusual, and the inevitability of some person selling any product to some other person on the sly insures a market would exist.

Animal blood banks were not as common (if they existed at all) in the period of “Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been” as human ones; and, presumably, the preservation of blood is as important to a vampire as to a medical recipient, so Angel would take human blood over butcher’s blood. Also, he was more ambivalent about his situation at that time. Although he was not “feeding,” but he would still take human blood. I think the idea became increasingly repugnant to him.

The concept of “flavouring” blood for vampires with that of other animals is just the the kind of thing Wolfram and Hart would embrace (”It’s Pennsylvania accountant swirled with a nutty reduction of Lake District vole.” I have an image of a Rachel Ray for demons…unless she is one already). I love the line when Harmony says the pig’s blood will go straight to her hips.

I’m not sure if this should be added to the list. It was Angel’s body, but technically Marcus Roscoe in Carpe Noctem. He drank from Lilah and the women from the club.

I’m one of Angel’s flashback in Five by Five, he bites a woman, but doesn’t kill her. I wonder if he took any sips. Hmmm?
