Angel and Buffy’s last talk

2001.jpg

In the original script for 7.22 Chosen, the conversation between Buffy and Angel was supposed to be longer, with Angel revealing to Buffy that he loved Cordelia and also that he had a son, Connor (which makes me wonder why Willow didn’t mention this to Buffy before). This was amended as it confused the storylines between the two shows.

I really wanted Angel to mention that He loved cordy and that he had a son, It would of been nice, I felt like he totally forgot about Cordelia when he was there!, Buffy mentioned Spike and it would of been nice to have Cordelia mentioned too.

    Oh well.

Smash, I agree there - I’d not watched any of Angel when I saw Chosen for the first time. Angel mentioning Cordy (and Conor) would have been really confusing and would’ve taken something away from the final scenes of Buffy. If Angel had gone “I’m in love with Cordelia” I would’ve gone what the fricking heck is that about and probably would’ve zoomed off right there and then to get my Angel dvds!!

That’s not such a bad thing, lol! It’s like in Pangs wnen Giles mentions Angel’s friend had had a vision. I didn’t know that Angel had friends that had visions (I do now though).

yes i often get confused with the whole storylines crossing over, but now i have seen most of the angel episodes i’m kinda ‘getting’ it more now!

I must be the worst because I haven’t even seen all of the Angel episodes yet, but I still know bits and bobs about the series and its end from reading trivia online and reading spoilers by mistake. Dammit! I guess the upside is that I’m not as confused as I should be with the whole cross-over dooda.

I agree. Buffy had to explain about Spike and Angel just sat their looking all high and mighty. But, I didnt really like that scene anyway as Angel and Buffy had already agreed that they would never work out, ever. I mean Buffy hadnt even mentioned Angel for two years, and before that for a year, and in season four didnt look like she liked him very much (after the whole Angel thing that she dosent even know about). Personally i think it should have been a “it was good, never going to work, I love Cordy, you are into other people (see Spike and Riley) and so we’ve all moved on). See you round”. But it wasnt.

Well, first loves all around. Kinda hard thing to get over.
I loved that scene. You had to have Angel come back for that. And the Cordy/Angel relationship…I just have a hard time understanding. I mean, I get it…but I think about how she was in Buffy. She didn’t even know he was a vampire till the Halloween ep. in season 2.

I don’t know. It’s weird. And would piss Buffy off to no end. Maybe that’s why he didn’t mention it.

Well considering the writers already knew they were going to kill Cordy off I think that they knew it wasn’t going to work for Angel and her…

i would like to see it in a deleted scene and keep it in my head as canon.. it’s like everything that happened in angel was treated like an alternate reality with btvs yet angel had buffy mentions in every season…cordy got brief mentions…not too many and was barely seen in the flashback during HIm in season 7, it was like fred and gunn never existed…i get that they are 2 seperate shows but it’s the same world and cordelia went to pri-school with xander and willow…c’mon joss with the lovin!!! i bet he pulled the moves on charisma,,got rejected and so he treated cordy like crap and fired her! im just saying…

It’s a good thing that Angel didn’t tell Buffy about Cordy and Connor (although it would have been tempting, if only to get back at Buffy after learning that she was more or less going out with Spike).
It would have been very confusing, and above all, Buffy would never have given him her “cookie dough” speech, which was meant to leave one door open for the Angel/Buffy diehards.
Still, could anyone quote the original script, if you can find it ??

It really wasn’t the best time for Angel to bring Connor up considering he just wiped Connor out of the memories of everyone around him….therefore if Buffy had been told by Willow about Connor it really wouldn’t have mattered since Cyvus Vail worked that mind mojo like the monks did with Dawn. It also sounded like Buffy and the others in Sunnydale did know about Connor in Orpheus….When Willow is going around doing intros with everyone she says something to the effect of “You must be Angel’s son”.

Hey, you’re right! How did Willow know about Connor, especially if Buffy didn’t?

  13. HarFang on June 23rd, 2008 at 9:36 pm

I guess Fred must have told Willow when she called her. It would have been logical to give her as much information as possible in an emergency.
Besides, we know that Cordy has been keeping in touch with Willow over the years (if only to solve her computer problems). The reason Willow didn’t tell Buffy about Connor when she got back is another matter, but I guess it wouldn’t have been very delicate, and by then she had other things on her mind.

I’m sure if Willow knew, Buffy did. I can’t see Will keeping that from her.

If Angel had told Buffy about Connor in Chosen, she would not have remembered since the spell had already been cast in Home. He probably would have been confiding in her since they were so close and knew she could keep it under wraps.
