In the episode 5.16 The Body, Xander punches his hand through the wall after Joyce’s death. Joss Whedon mentions in his DVD commentary for the episode that Alyson Hannigan was allergic to the plaster dust and her right eye and face swelled up. She had to be taken to hospital, but had to continue filming before she could do so. If you look carefully, only one side of Alyson’s face in filmed that scene.
