There are a few alternative 7.22 Chosen scripts on the internet with many differences, including: Xander dying to save Dawn; Anya living to see the end and Dawn being the third Slayer. In the alternatives, there are many extra guest stars including Kendra. Sarah Michelle Gellar told Entertainment Weekly in 2003 that she knew of Joss’s grand plan for the show:
“Joss has had certain episodes planned from the get-go. I knew Dawn was coming two years in advance… Willow was always supposed to go bad. Willow was supposed to go bad a year before she did, but Joss loved Tara and Willow, so that story line was pushed a year… I honestly believe his original intentions was to put Buffy and Xander together. I really do believe that.”

I doubt that there is a script out there that Joss wrote that that included Xander being killed. He was originaly going to kill everyone in the last episode but then decided he needed to at least keep the four core Scooby Gang members alive for a sign of hope. So, it seems pretty unlikely that he would have thought to just kill Xander.

I saw a script where i think dawn died (which would have been much better) but it just looked as though the person who had posted it had just taken Anyas name out and replaced it with dawns

I have read the alternate script in which Xander dies. The lines are pretty much the same as the ones between Andrew and Xander about Anya’s death.

The fact that The First becomes corporeal mean it won the battle, right? Isn’t that what they said? Also, that means they would have been able to kill The First and thusly, eliminating all evil. That seems a little to over the top and unrealilistic.

That other script that says that Xander dies just seems to take out “girl” and put in “guy” for xander.
I just think it was there so people wouldn’t guess the ending. Although i didn’t think he would kill off any of the scoobies. I was hoping for it tho.

I wish Anya did live to see the end. I hated the fact that none of the Scoobie’s asked where Anya was , or say something to Xander about her. A simple “I’m really sorry about Anya” would have been nice, but nothing, A bit, fat, stinking nothing.

I totally agree AnyaRocks! Anya was after all fighting with scoobies since season 4 (or at least season 5 )and she was a main character on the show.Don`t get me wrong because i absolutely love “Chosen” and it still gives me the shivers when i watch it ..(and i`ve seen it many times). But you could`ve missed Anyas death if you happened to blink just then! I just thought: well, was that it? Good thing i got it all on DVD now : )

Honestly I was slightly dissapointed at the amount of people that lived at the end of Chosen. I believe that Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles and dawn should have been the only ones left. I mean, Buffy got her ass kicked by that Uber Vamp in the previous episode, but now Robin Wood and even Dawn can take a few out? What’s that all about? Death to all that isnt the original four (and Dawn, cause shes lovely looking).

i read i think on wikipedia that xander was gonna be killed off in that episode (can’t remember the name) where he got his eye taken out by caleb but joss felt that so close to the last episode, it was have overshadowed everything else…

oh and apparently buffy and xander are bumping off eachother in season 8…buffy even had a dream about sleeping with him but his head popped off…if she goes with xander now it just makes her a slut like jackie in 70s’ show…going out with every guy on it…i think she’s even run out of guys to sleep with now bcuz she’s sleeping with another slayer on season 8…its suposed to only be a one off though

Wow. That’s interesting about Xander and Buffy….I can’t really imagine them ending up together…they’re such close friends…Yet of course, Buffy never does choose the good guy…
