When a writer has finished their version of an episode, it is often changed by the other writers slightly, in order to flesh out various scenes. In 5.02 Real Me, Marti Noxon wrote the scene in which Riley and Buffy talk in the graveyard because David Fury (who wrote the episode) felt he wasn’t too good at writing relationships. In that episode, Jane Espenson came up with the idea of Dawn dripping ice cream on her chin.
